About Kristie Jo’s Love,
Comfort and Care

Specializing in quality, loving care for seniors and adults with disabilities.

Over 35 Years of Professional Caregiving Experience

Founded by experienced caregiver Kristie Jo Salmen, and based in Southern California’s scenic Ventura County and serving all surrounding cities including Los Angeles County, Kristie Jo’s Love, Comfort and Care is a high-quality, family-owned provider of comprehensive in-home care and companionship services to seniors and adults with disabilities.

With over three decades of professional and loving caregiving experience, Kristie Jo’s Love, Comfort and Care offers clients, families and fiduciaries a broad spectrum of services, including activities of daily living (ADLs), power of attorney (POA) execution for healthcare directives, senior housing and placement guidance, range-of-motion (ROM) exercises, transportation to medical appointments and family gatherings, and much, much more. The company is insured, bonded, and fully licensed by the Home Care Services Bureau (HCSB) of California’s Department of Social Services (CDSS).

How It All Began

Since early childhood, Kristie Jo has possessed the gifts of compassion and empathy, and the capacity to develop deep, meaningful rapports with seniors and individuals with disabilities. These valuable traits enable her to help her clients focus on the positive aspects of their lives, rather than on their illnesses or infirmities. As a result, Kristie Jo is able to bring smiles and laughter to everyone she encounters, and to make difficult situations endurable for clients. Over the course of her nearly 40 years in the caregiving profession, she has leveraged these qualities in her care of dozens of seniors, many of whom come to her and her company by referrals.

Kristie Jo began her caregiving career at the age of 15 when she responded to an advertisement placed by an elderly woman in her neighborhood in need of assistance. After school, she rode her bicycle to her client’s senior mobile home park, and then regularly helped the woman with cleaning, cooking, running errands, and being a companion. Eventually, this job demanded more of Kristie Jo’s time, with increased duties and responsibilities, but she remained by the woman’s side, even as her client began dialysis treatment, and ultimately, hospice care until she passed away. Through all of this, she learned a great deal about the many nuances and best practices of in-home caregiving, and she applies that entire body of experience to her and her employees’ work at Kristie Jo’s Love, Comfort and Care.

Kristie Jo’s Own Fight

Kristie Jo is the mother of four children, one of whom was diagnosed in 1999 with stage 4 neuroblastoma at four years old and with only a five percent chance of survival. Neuroblastoma is a form of cancer which develops from immature nerve cells found in several areas of the body, and most commonly affects children under the age of five. Fortunately for her and her family, Kristie Jo’s son made a full recovery following aggressive treatment, and he was declared cancer-free in 2001. As one can imagine, having a child with progressive cancer at such a young age was extremely challenging and heart-breaking for Kristie Jo and her family. However, she channeled her love and passion, as both a mother and a caregiver, and began providing the same attention to families with cancer-stricken children. After her son’s recovery, Kristie Jo’s Love, Comfort and Care grew quickly, and she has hired numerous associates who possess the same love, empathy and compassion she does.
